This Week in My Studio/Clay Cave.

This week will be spent organizing a very messy work space. while preparing for the craft show my work was spread though out the house. It was easier to bribe my family's help by bribing them with Pizza and adult beverages while we worked on the dining room table.  I even had my husband stringing beads on  his up-cycled guitar strings.  I thought he was having a good time until I comment on how much fun it was to work together.  His hands and way to big and fingers too caused to handle crimp beads and jump rings.  He has proclaimed, "When I die I'll know  I am in Hell if I have work with tiny pieces."

My goal this week is to clean out and organize the clay studio.  I have lots of storage drawers and containers but can never figure out what to put where, it all ends up thrown in the "Top Drawer."
Will take before and after pictures.

This Week In My Studio

I will be starting a new feature called, "This Week in My Studio."  This will motivate me to blog weekly with updates on  clay progress.  This week I am preparing for a craft show next Sunday, April 22. Although I have done some custom orders and sold through retail shops,  this will be my first craft show.
Pretty nervous about the display, what to make, pricing and will I have enough products. Do you ever really feel ready?  Am focusing on up-cyled product. Hoping to finish some Art Dolls.
Will post pictures soon.

New Adventures

It has been some time since I have posted a blog.  Took an online class on how to create a better blog but have not applied that knowledge.  My most resent clay project has been an Aqua necklace for a friend.  I love Aqua, one of my favorite colors; as you see by the change in this blog color scheme.  But the variations in Aqua made it difficult to match when mixing customized clay colors.   There is a fine line between Aqua that is too blue and looks like turquoise or too green and looks minty.  As with each project I learned something along the way.  I am pleased with the end result and hope my friend will be too.

Life spinning faster than the Earth's rotation.

The Earth rotates in a fairly slow and steady  predicatable manner.  My life is spinning out of control like it has been hit by a meteorite. Have been dealing with a major medical crisis 1200 miles away.  Thank goodness for my husband who was able to immediately fly to  New York and help my 90 year old mother.  In the process of this I got a new supervisor that did not want any new responsibilities.  So our weekly, "Get to Know You Meetings"  been a weekly character assassination.  My husband is back from  New York and we are frantically getting a room ready for my mother to move from New York to Iowa. It is a good thing, she is great to have around,  just about 6 months earlier than we had planned.  But as John Lennon said, Life happens when you are making other plans.

On to the Bead Scene:  Erin sent me a beautiful package of goodies for the bead swap.  I finally got  my beads sent back to her.  It was like the little package that never got mailed.  So I am looking forward to going outside and taking a breath while I make something fun with what I got from the Bead Swap.

Loving the Process.

I was very happy to hear from my Bead Soup partner Erin.     You know I love to create with clay, love to process, (hate the sanding) but love the end result.  I love to make beads and make more beads and more beads and more beads but rarely put them together into anything.  So...I have lots and lots and lots  of beads, and I swear they reproduce. How will I ever decide what to send my Bead Soup partner.  Or, should I make something new--- I always love doing that, wink-wink.
So I will go through my collection.   Collection?  Is that what it is is or is it "Collecting?"  Or is that a fancy name for Hoarding?  Oh Good Lordy, I think I have become a Bead Hoarder.  Well, at least they are small and non-perishable. Maybe it is a Trunk Show.   I just need to re-frame into something that sounds much sophisticated and acceptable.

Another Day, A New Adventure.

I am not the most Techno-Savvy when it comes to this Blog thing.  But... I am signing up for Bead Soup and one must have a Blog.     Also going to participate in the August Art Bead Challenge.  Pretty excited, it should help my stretch my creativity.  I am looking forward to these new adventures.  Some of my favorite people have blogs so I should just join in.  I had a previous Blog that is now defunct.  So this is definitely the place to be.
